A member of the U.S. delegation that accompanied President Obama on his recent trip to Mexico has fallen ill with H1N1 Swine Flu.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu exhibited flu-like symptoms after returning from Mexico City. His family has also tested positive for probable swine flu.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Thursday that three members of an aide’s family are being tested to see if they have the same strain of swine flu that is threatening to become a pandemic.

The aide worked in President Obama’s advance team which is responsible for planning and preparing domestic and foreign trips.

The good news is that they have all recovered, but we do need to watch this story carefully.

It just keeps popping up everywhere. Its now in two other schools here in Phoenix. Both in the City of Chandler School District. Right next to Phoenix. That’s 40 miles across town, but it keeps getting closer…

Call me paranoid but how is it that Steven Chu gets sick but no one else in the Obama administration, including the president, succumbs to the swine flu virus?

Were they pumping the president full of Tamiflu but no one else?

I bet when the president travels, he brings along in Air Force One the equivalent of a Wal-Greens pharmacy. He doesn’t travel light.

The pandemic has already begun. There is no “becoming” to it.

  9. Walk on Socks says:

My sister lives across the country in Athens, GA and she emailed to say they have “suspected” cases there.

I am starting to think this is the proverbial ‘tip of the iceberg,’ and it is going to get a lot worse before it starts to improve.

  10. Brigadoon says:

The timeline for swine flu didn’t begin last Friday as many bloggers and media sources claim. The first reports of the viral outbreak were reported in the Mexican capital way back on April 16th, 2009. This is troubling because our public health services only picked up on it after it was detected in the U.S.

I’m guessing Air Force 1 will be grounded for a while.
