  1. Aunt Peg says:

What a sweet, adorable and talented young man.

Dustin was obviously moved and I was moved too, as his words came straight from his heart. How can people — especially in California, deny gay couples the right to marry? It’s unconscionable to me and I will never understand it.

  2. Prairiedog says:

I was so pleased he won for ‘Milk.’ The competition was really tough this year and I figured Slumdog would knock everyone else out of contention.

Clearly, one of the highlights of the entire program.

  3. DMason says:

Didn’t he say his parents moved the family out of San Antonio and away from a Mormon strong hold and they resettled in California? Dustin’s life would had been very different if they stayed in Texas.

  4. DR says:

great speech, I posted it as well.

  5. Ulysses Washed Ashore says:

Dustin Lance Black gives hope to gay, American youth, who still commit suicide in numbers far greater than their straight counterparts, that they can be gay or lesbian or transgendered, and have a successful, professional life.

He’s not only a talented writer but courageous too.

  6. Fran says:

Fantastic speech. Great to say what he said out loud, validating others- giving hope & dignity– as some parts of society still lag behind in discrimination & prejudice.

  7. Stephan Iversonn says:

    Powerful.
    Moving.
    Poignant.
    Sincere.
    Pertinent.

All came to mind as I sat watching this superbly talented young screenwriter.

His parents must be very, very proud of him today.
