Bush’s Final Approval Rating: 22 Percent

Saturday, January 17, 2009

Good morning.

With approximately 72 hours until the inaugural, George Bush will leave office as one of the most unpopular departing presidents in history, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll showing Mr. Bush’s final approval rating at 22 percent.

Seventy-three percent say they disapprove of the way Mr. Bush has handled his job as president over the last eight years.

Mr. Bush’s final approval rating is the lowest final rating for an outgoing president since Gallup began asking about presidential approval more than 70 years ago.

We laugh and joke about 22% approval for Bush but think about it. After 8 years, two wars, an economy headed for a depression, our infrastructure in ruins and our reputation in the world in tatters, there are still 22% of Americans who approve of this failure?

  2. Walk on Socks says:

But feminazi, these 22% are all in Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

At least they’re not roaming among the living and the sane!

I am so glad Bush has just hour left until he’s out of office.

The past 8 years have been hell and I think I speak for most Americans when I say, we came perilously close to going down the tubes as a nation.

    Hurry Tuesday 12 noon! Hurry.

I think it would be fascinating to do a poll of the poll results.

Who are these 22% of people who say Bush is doing a slam-dunk job? Are they Bush family members? Paid-by-the-New World Order to respond in a positive light?

  5. Fran says:

I am guessing the 22% are the top 1% “base” most wealthy who got to keep their $$$ through tax breaks.
Halliburton, Blackwater, the funeral industry & war profiteers give their stamp of approval.

  6. JollyRoger says:

    Fran,

Do not discount the effects of inbreeding on the gene pool. There are large swaths of this country where inbreeding has been practiced for generations. I didn’t realize that the number of inbreds had reached 1 in 5 of us until recently, but the evidence that it has is overwhelming.

  7. Arizona Leatherneck says:

So let me get this straight.

The effect of the dead kitty didn’t help?

  8. Andy says:

But remember, history will judge him well!!!! Or so goes the excuse.

  9. libhomo says:

Those 22% are mostly militant, Christian fundamentalists along the lines of followers of Rick Warren.
