The much anticipated first installment of ABC’s two-part interview with Sarah “Immaculate Conception” Palin aired tonight and Palin didn’t disappoint.
ABC’s Charles Gibson asked Palin if under the NATO treaty, the United States would have to go to war should Russia again invaded Georgia.
“Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you’re going to be expected to be called upon and help. And we’ve got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable.”
Palin’s heavily-coached, beauty contestant-style answers, seemed designed to appeal to the most hawkish members of the Republican base without the least bit of knowledge or circumspection. For example, Palin seemed to forget that before asking the Congress for permission to take the country to war against a nuclear superpower, there are steps that need to be taken and exhausted, beginning with diplomacy and economic sanctions.

” In terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked…” o.k. put democratic in italics since Saddham’s elections were worse than the ones in jr. high school but the rest of it seems strangely familiar to what Bush said against Russia a few weeks back. Neither of them seem to be able to connect the dots that George W. Bush invaded a smaller country unprovoked. Sarah probably knows a lot about Russia though living so close to it and all.

Gibson /ABC had posted a site where you could ask the questions you wanted him to ask. So many people said no cupcake or softball/cutsie bio… they wanted serious questions- no fricking flag lapel pin bullshit.
I posted something to the effect, this is the last chance- either they have serious questions/journalism or join the ranks of tabloid garbage.
I caught the first round- he was hard hitting with good/serious questions- especially regarding Foreign relations.
When she gave a bullshit answer- he said so is that Yes or No? Answer the question!
They have to put a stop to this pansy fest where Palin says whatever & there is no investigative scrutiny.

“…invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable.”
Hmm, why does that sound so familiar?

The two of them are like dumb and dumber running for president. I don’t know who is more stupid, McOldwhiteguy or the PaLIEin.

Stupid and they lie their asses off but it doesn’t seem to matter as long as Dumbericans can watch their porn, keep up on fantasy foortball, Curves, beer and fucking Fox noise. Nobody is listening it seems or why is this thing even remotely close ?

Damn.
Well you know I have been pretty actively trying to deflate Palin before she reaches the White House, but now I am wondering if I should not work to get her elected so she won’t come back to Alaska and start some shit with Russia from here.
I mean they are almost close enough to just kill some of us just by throwing chunks of ice over the damn Bering Straight!
I have lived here all of my life, and I knew it was cold, but I had no idea just how cold some of our women could be. Cause folks that lady is crazy!

Can we keep Palin’s poor performance on Abc in the news at least as long as the pig-with-lipstick brouhaha? This is serious. That was some bellicose smack she was talking!

She far exceeded my expectations. When Charlie said “lost in a blizzard of words” I about choked on my drink. Does Palin think she can just march over to Russia in her Mukluks and tout her divine, newfound foreign policy wisdom and diplomatic tact?
BTW word is Obama will make an appearance on SNL season premier hosted by Michael Phelps on Saturday.

Yet, for a certain segment of women who feel oppressed, Palin empowers and inspires them. I watched the ABC interview and I kept thinking how her loyalists will feel when they watch their children incinerated in a nuclear cloud courtesy of the Russian military? Palin isn’t very smart and she’s extremely dangerous.

Sorry Palin but you’re not going to sacrifice my children. If I have to physically stop you. My kids will not be used as pawns in a war with Russia. I promise you — it ain’t going to go down as you say.

Sarah, baby, Georgia isn’t a member of NATO so your argument that the USA would take on Russian in a war theater has more holes in it than your pretty little head. A nation must first be a member of NATO before the terms of the treaty can be enforced. I guee she slept through that chapter.

“Bush Doctrine?” she asked quizically.
“Can you expand on that, Charlie?”
She’s not a very effective bluffer, is she?
Basically, she’s Bush with better grammar and a vagina.

I missed the interview but watched it on the ABC News stream. A couple of observations.
1. If I had to choose between 4 more years of Bush/Cheney and 4 years of McCain/Palin, I would choose Bush/Cheney.
This is how dangerous and ill-suited I think McCain/Palin are for the top jobs.
2. This broad has no understanding of history or world events and peppers her replies with well-rehearsed GOP buzz phrases that target the radical base of the party.
After watching the streaming interview, it is clear that Palin thinks having Russia as Alaska’s neighbor somehow give her unique qualifications in the foreign policy arena.
3. Bush has a deeper intellectual capacity than does Palin.
Having Alfred E. Newman in the WH the past 8 years means the bar is pretty low to start with, but Palin just lowered that bar to an inch above the ground.

( to Tom above- at this point we would have to start digging to find that bar….)
She did work as a waitress once- and when asked at the Charlie Rose show What was her best Job experience to be mayor- she said that she had waited tables….so Serving French Fries is her Main Foreign Policy Expertise…
