If it looks like a scam, and it walks like a scam, and it smells like a scam, chances are, it’s a scam.
Alaska Gov. Sarah “Immaculate Conception” Palin billed taxpayers for 312 nights during her first 19 months in office for sleeping in her own home! The charge was a “per diem” allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.
But the only place Palin “traveled” was between the living room, the kitchen, the bathroom and the bedroom.
Palin, who earns $125,000 a year, claimed and received $16,951 as her allowance, which officials say was permitted because her official “duty station” is Juneau.
Palin also has bilked state taxpayers for travel expenses to take her children on official out-of-town missions, as well as her husband, Todd. Palin’s daughters and husband charged the state $43,490 to travel — many of the trips were between their house in Wasilla and Juneau, the capital city 600 miles away, the documents show.
You’ve got to hand it to John “Keating Five” McCain, picking Palin as his vice presidential running mate is keeping with the long, established Republican party tradition of dirty politics, corruption, graff, greed and disception.
This broad is too damned much. I don’t understand how the people of Alaska give her a 90% approval rating and yet, her real specialty seems to be ripping off the state and the taxpayers. Palin is no reformer: she’s a con artist.

I can understand to some extent providing any state governor with a stipend to cover food and lodging while performing state business. Especially, if the governor is on the road.
What I can’t understand is how Palin’s husband and kids were on the payroll too.
What was Bristol getting paid for? Looking for a new baby daddy? And Todd. He’s a fisherman. He wasn’t elected by the voters.
This entire thing stinks from Juneau to Nome and I think the Alaska state legislator needs to impanel a blue ribbon commission to look into Palin’s sleazy use of taxpayer dollars.
Man, I’ve got to get me one of those sweet gigs. And rest assured, voters, I wouldn’t waste the money on mooseburgers.

If Joe Biden can’t send this little igloo dweller back home, one-way on the Bridge to Nowhere, then Biden doesn’t deserve to be on Obama’s ticket.

If Palin is such a “reformer,” then at very least she needs to repay the freebies her husband and her daughters received courtesy of the taxpayers of Alaska.
These are very tough times for 90% of the American people and we don’t have extra coin sitting around to underwrite a lavish lifestyle for the Caribou Barbie and her kin folk.

A new BBC World Service poll shows that in all 22 countries surveyed, the citizens would prefer Sen. Barack Obama elected president of the United States instead of Sen. John McCain. In fact, Obama is preferred by a four to one margin on average across the 22,000 people polled.
In 17 of the 22 countries surveyed the most common view is that, if Barack Obama is elected president, America’s relations with the rest of the world are likely to get better. If John McCain is elected, the most common view in 19 countries is that relations will stay about the same as they are now.
The countries polled: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Lebanon, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
In addition, a separate poll of Americans found that 46% think an Obama presidency would improve U.S. relations with the world compared to just 30% for a McCain presidency.
Wonder if she figured out a way to bill the state for every time she had to bonk Todd too… would that count for community service or miscellaneous ?

The rest of us would be FIRED from our jobs for doing something like that. Her behavior is nothing short of theft, larceny, embezzlement and fraud. I hope that Joe alludes to this during the debates.

This litmus test of American intelligence and common sense for the rest of the world is embarrassing after 8 years of misery. This reminds me of those easy, quick diet scams millions of people fall for in a magic pill or the abs/ buns of steel you can buy for under twenty bucks. When will people realize we are in power to control our own future and destiny without the gimmicks we’re fed like cows to slaughter?

One reason is that Alaska flush with Oil revenues allows them to get by without State income taxes, and then Palin increased their rebate check from the Oil Fund up to $1600 bucks per resident … adults and kids alike … based on a program that is essentially a Windfall Profits account.

Adding in the Palin’s family rebate of $1600 x 7 gets them another $11,200. … for a grand total of $196,644.00 is nothing to sneeze at either.
Ohm51 – Your math doesn’t add up. The $1,600 oil rebate times 7 – Todd, Sarah and the 4 kids (Trig would be factored in next spring) comes to $9,600. Add $9,600 to her $125,000 Governor’s salary and you get: $134,600. There’s still an unaccounted amount of $50,841 that is unexplained.
