Sarah Palin Visits AIPAC: That Didn’t Take Long

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

MSNBC is reporting that Sarah Palin on Tuesday met with the board of directors of the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and Sen. Joe Lieberman to, in the words of one McCain campaign official cited by MSNBC, put “the American Jewish community at ease over her understanding of US-Middle East relations.”

It’s worth noting that Palin, who has obviously been completely off-limits to reporters since she was rolled out as McCain’s running-mate in Dayton Friday, stiffed a reception in her honor sponsored by none other than Phyllis Schlafly a couple hours later.

AIPAC spokesman Josh Block said after the meeting:

“We had a good productive discussion on the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship, and we were pleased that Gov. Palin expressed her deep, personal, and lifelong commitment to the safety and well-being of Israel.  Like Sen. McCain, the vice presidential nominee understands and believes in the special friendship between the two democracies and would work to expand and deepen the strategic partnership in a McCain/Palin Administration.”

The rightwing Likudist Republican Jewish Coalitionwas especially pleased that Palin has a miniature flag of Israel in her office.

  1. TOM339 says:

Evidently, many jews don’t like Obama because he’s African American and they’ve bought the Rove/Morris propaganda meme that he’s a Muslim (he’s not.)

Frankly, I honestly don’t give a rat’s ass what AIPAC thinks but in American politics, a candidate must crawl on all fours before their board or they don’t have a chance of being elected.

  2. Estacada says:

Man, you are on fire with this stuff!

I don’t know why you’re not working for a TV network or a mainstream newspaper.

The cable programs have been on in my house 12 hours a day for the past 2 weeks and I never knew Palin had visited AIPAC until this morning.

I’m sure this will make Wolf Blitzer sing an Aira!!!

  3. fran says:

Crazy! I just hope her new (forced) son-in-law shows up to the RNC wearing an OBAMA
t- shirt for the big speech tonight.

  4. Joe in Colorado says:

Alright, I’m trying to get the order of priorities straight in my mind. Before Palin meets with the media or gives a newspaper interview, she’s crawling to AIPAC to woo their support? I thought we lived in the USA? I didn’t know we lived in Israel?

  5. Rachel says:

Tom339 – A lot of Jewish-Americans are, I’m sorry to say, as racist as Marge Schott. The New York Times had a piece about the Jewish-Americans living in Miami and their hatred for Obama — in large part because they harbor a grudge and blame him for defeating Hillary, is truly breathtaking. I never knew my people could be such assholes.

  6. DCVET says:

The irony is, if you compare the foreign policy positions of both Barack Obama and John McCain, it is Obama’s that stresses diplomacy, treaties, and economic pressure with Iran. McCain, by contrast, and like most neoconservatives, actually thinks the solution to Israel’s security is to commence WWIII. This is madness taken to the extreme and not based on any historic or political knowledge of the region.

  7. Aunt Peg says:

Plus, AIPAC can move money McCain’s way if they approve of Sarah Sunshine.

I read the newspapers after Obama visited AIPAC and they were very cool to him despite the fact that his position and pledge to protect Israel is virtually identical to Hillary Clinton’s position.

One is left to conclude there is an undercurrent of racism within AIPAC.

  8. smoothie says:

    DCVET said it for me.

McCain is a neoconservative, he’s old and he has nothing to lose by starting WWIII in the Middle East. Iran has said on more than a few occasions that if the USA thru Israel, bombs Tehran, they will lob a nuclear warhead at Tel Aviv.

This type of exchange would be epochal in scope and destruction and could involve the nations of the EU. AIPAC needs to shut the fuck up and stay out of our elections.

  9. Roger says:

The problem is, if people start saying, “WTF is all this nonsense with AIPAC being all up in our business,” then you have these so-called “liberal” (my fucking ass) Jewish people screaming “anti-semitism.” Never mind that Israel is doing it’s level best to oppress the Palestinians and doing it with our money. Never mind that Israel is a partner in torture.

  10. kellybelle says:

Did she tell them they are all going to hell because they don’t believe in Jesus?

  11. taco says:

then you have these so-called “liberal” (my fucking ass) Jewish people screaming “anti-semitism.”

Ka-ching! No one can criticize Israel or you will be labeled an anti-Semite.

    It’s utter bullshit.

  12. Walk on Socks says:

    It’s true.

All American politicians who reach for nation office must pass muster with the people at AIPAC or risk defeat. The amazing is, this has been true for a long while but it wasn’t until the birth of the blogosphere that AIPAC’s role in our political system became known.

  13. Someone should tell them she’s a Rat Buchanan supporter. In other words a anti Semite.

  14. my very jewish mother

“i cannot believe he picked that woman — she isnt qualified to clean my toilets”

from a woman who still thinks obama might be a muslim (don’t ask)

she is voting D all the way – she loves biden (as do most southern florida jews)

  15. Pituquasi says:

Criticism of Israel isn’t Anti-Semitism. They aren’t Semites. Just like Germans weren’t Aryans. Those Ashkenazi usurpers are nothing more than Germans, Poles, and Russians of Turkic Khazar decent who all mass converted to Judahsim centuries ago. The sad truth, if anyone in that sad bloody land are the true descendants of the Jews of Moses, Davis, and Solomon its the poor Palestinians who most likely mass converted to Islam 1,500 years ago. The irony of history is that the Jews are still and oppressed and enslaved people 2000 years after the destruction of their temple, this time by a group of foreign occupiers that claim to be THEM.

  16. Randy Arroyo says:

I have nothing against jews and I have nothing against Israel. I like jews and I support Israel. However, just as I reject neoconservatives in my own country, I also reject the rightwing Likuds as I think they represent a threat to regional security and by extension, to my own country. It isn’t a matter of anti-semitism at all. It comes down to political philosophy and a rightwinger is a rightwinger, not matter their national origin.

  17. Nader McKinney says:

    Dr Ron & Ralph

    “The two parties should be
    almost identical, so that
    the American people can
    ‘throw the rascals out’
    at any election without
    leading to any profound or
    extensive shifts in policy.”
    – Carol Quigley

Cynthia Mike Dennis Jesse Ross Jimmy

And the men* who hold high places
Must be the ones who start
    To mold a new reality
    Closer to the heart

  18. AIPAC needs to go. It should not be involved in American politics. It works solely for the Israeli government at the expense of the American people. I’m really sick and tired of them running the show in D.C. and even sicker that our politicians who are suppose to be working for the best interest of the American people are devoted to making AIPAC stronger than our own government. JOE LIEBERMAN SHOULD LEAVE THE US AND LIVE IN ISRAEL. HE SHOULD TAKE McCAIN AND PALIN WITH HIM.

  19. Say NO to Jwies LOBY like AIPAC says:

AIPAC and the same Jewish organizations try with their money influence on the American government and politics take.
The American (not Jews!) Must not let this influence.
the American people have to say NO about this intrigue
AIPAC lead in US war against the Iranian government and people.

AIPAC lead in USa, a war against the Iranian government and people.
Here they will use every means. Even the deportation of the United States in a war with Iran !!
The Jews allowed to do not forget who has allowed them that they build their Wailing Wall!
