Just weeks before the start of the Democratic convention in Denver, two new books attempting to swiftboat Barack Obama are scheduled to be released. They drop on August 1st and August 4th.
On August 1st watch for: The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality, by Jerome Corsi, who co-authored Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry, which contained false and baseless attacks on John Kerry’s military service.
On August 4th watch for: The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media’s Favorite Candidate, by National Review Online writer David Freddoso. The essence of this tomb argues that Obama is unfit for command.
Obama supporters should prepare to keep a keen eye on the behavior of the talkingheads in the media after these books hit the bookstores. We learned valuable lessons from the scurrilous attacks on John Kerry in 2004 and the braindead media’s terrible habit of getting their talkingpoints directly from these rightwing operatives. The same fate cannot be allowed to happen to Obama.

It shouldn’t take long for the media to get wind of their new talkingpoints and begin to repeat them. This is precisely what happened in 2004 when seemingly innocuous media outlets like NBC’s Today, and ABC’s Good Morning America, had the Kerry swiftboat author on to discuss his book. Thanks for the heads up, Christopher.

The tabloids (no, I don’t mean the New York Times) have been trying to swiftboat Obama for months already.
The National Enquirer and the Globe were pushing the cat’s story that he had a gay relationship with Obama and it involved cocaine. After the cat took and failed a lie detector test, they pretty much backed away from it.
Even Hillary Clinton’s campaign tried to smear Obama’s character with allegations he used recreational drugs like 40 million Americans do on a regular basis.
My point it, the swiftboating isn’t bottom, up — it’s top, down and Obama is one smart guy who knows how to handle these people.

The real power brokers on Wall Street allow a Democrat to win the presidency once every 15 to 18 years. Consider 2008 the new 1976, when they let Jimmy Carter come from nowhere and become the Leader of the Free World. Let’s just hope that Obama’s turn has more in common with Clinton and not Carter or in 2012 we will be looking at another generation of time squandered with the GOP in charge of the Executive and Legislative branches of government and I doubt the country will survive it.

I saw a report that claims 80% of the commentary on the network news about Barack Obama is negative.
Whereas 70% of the reporting about John McCain on the network news is positive.
What happened to the so-called “liberal bias” the rightwing is always screeching about?

As I see it, the mainstream media is lazy.
They’re much more inclined to parrot a swiftboat talkingpoint than to actually do the hard work and analyze the charges to determine if there’s a germ of veracity to the allegations.
Once the blogoshere deciphered the swiftboat attacks on John Kerry and determined them to be false, the media was forced to admit they were wrong for reporting them.
Bottomline: the MSM mimics. The blogoshere analyzes.

I believe nothing I hear in the mainstream media.
After all, it was just last week that Katie Couric doctored McCain’s remarks and cleaned them up to make him look good and sound competent. I detest the media.

Katie Couric should have lost her job for what she did for John McCain. I thought she was a typical, overpaid network news reader. Who knew she was always on the McCain campaign’s payroll? Maybe she will next go to work for FOX News?

Barack Obama must IMMEDIATELY answer to any attack, unlike John Kerry’s lackadasical response which was two weeks too late. I don’t mean a press release, either. I mean face time on television so the American people can see both sides of the story.
Otherwise, all it takes is for the same lie to be repeated five times for it to be true and Obama’s toast.

Don’t cha just LOVE presidential election years???
I almost wonder if ignoring the BS is better than giving it any attention at all.
Something to the effect of *I’m not taking the low road*, & get on with the business of highlighting the contrasts of the two candidates.
Maybe we should beging referring to McSame as the “presumptive loser”?

RJ is spot on. Kerry’s response to the swiftboat attacks was all prissy and upper crust. Very patrician. Obama, by contrast, comes out swinging with a “Say again, motherfucker?” Big difference.

Watch for PUMA representatives to pick-up their talkingpoints from these books and repeat them when they appear on Hannity & Combs and Bill-O.
I’m telling you. The swiftboaters and PUMA are fronts for the GOP and working in tandem.

I have no objection to works of fiction. However, I do object to the big book retailers like Barnes and Noble and Borders putting books like these in any section other than “FICTION.”

Saw this piece referenced on MYDD. Thanks for hipping us to the source of the newest attacks on Obama’s character.
The garbage merchants never give up, do they?

Being objective…….Ya know you guys live in bizzarro. It is without question that your canidate is successful because of the NYT, and other popular media. It is not the other way around, as you see it, it is opposite; you are in a haze. I’m from Mass., I’ve met John Kerry, he s#cks, that is the easy way to put it. I’m voting for John McCain, but I have also in the past voted for Mondale, Dukakis, and Clinton. I left – the left and I won’t be going back. You really have it wrong! that voice in your head that tells you that you might be on the wrong side, listen to it , it is telling you the truth. Good Luck…….

This topic is quite hot on the Internet at the moment. What do you pay attention to while choosing what to write about?
