Rachel Maddow Wants a Cable Program

Rachel Maddow, who’s been a splendid, intelligent presence on MSNBC throughout the primary season, tells the folks at NPR’s “On the Media” that she’s hoping to get her own cable show.

Maddow, who already hosts the best radio show on Air America, has been critical of her fellow pundits discussing issues she doesn’t see as important–like Rev. Wright–over and over.

She tells host Bob Garfield:

“The real issue is story selection, is editorial control. I can only control what it is that I get asked to speak about in a very blunt way. That said, the way that I handle that is that I, I am gunning to get my own show. I would really like to be hosting a show on cable television, rather than guesting because I would like to exert more control over what gets discussed, over what counts as important.”

I hope MSNBC is listening. If they gave Joe “Pig Eyes” Scarborough his own program, Rachel Maddow certainly deserves one.

Love Rachel Maddow. I’m so proud of what she’s accomplished and her political work. Come on, MSNBC.

I think Rachel Maddow should replace the horrible David Gregory. He’s so obviously in bed with the Clinton people that I can’t watch his program. Plus, he was responsible for hiring Harold “DLC” Ford.

Rachel Maddow is a Rhodes Scholar, too. MSNBC had better snatch her up before she gets hired by another TV network. After Keith Olbermann, she’s the only reason to watch MSNBC news.

  • I like Rachel a lot.

I have heard her speak in person and she’s extremely well informed and learned. MSNBC would be very well served to give her a TV show of her own.

I even see her as a news anchor. Maybe the Saturday and Sunday anchor of the NBC evening news.

Oh, I think Rachel Maddow would be a wonderful addition to the MSNBC line up.

I never watch Faux News or CNN but I always tune into MSNBC. They have the best analysts and of course they have Keith who I adore. I’m so glad Miss Maddow is shopping herself around for a program of her own.

I agree with the aforementioned comments but there is one fact no one mentioned. While women like to discuss the “glass” ceiling as an obstacle to get ahead in corporate America, there’s something called the “lavender” ceiling that gay and lesbian employees face each day in business and let’s not forget that MSNBC is a business first.

  • Rachel is a true thinker, and has more critical thinking skills than Gregory has in his pinky……
seeing her on a regular basis , than as a guest would be wonderful…..

  • That would be awesome!
She was fantastic when she guest-hosted Countdown.

  • she is great
i hope she gets her own show

and that pig eyes scarborough gets dumped in the gutter where he belongs

  • Maddow certainly deserves her own show on cable. I have an autographed photo of her.

BTW: I miss Kent Jones from her radio show.

    ATTENTION MSNBC:

Give Rachel Maddow a show NOW, she is the smartest, most insightful commentator on the air today. Can Abrams and put her on after Countdown.
