Now that Barack Obama has locked up the delegates needed to become the Democratic nominee, all eyes are on who will might ask to be his vice presidential running mate. One thing is sure: it isn’t going to be rival Hillary Clinton.
Real Clear Politics reports:
Close-in supporters of Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign are convinced he never will offer the vice presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Clinton for one overriding reason: Michelle Obama.
The Democratic front-runner’s wife did not comment on other rival candidates for the party’s nomination, but she has been sniping at Clinton since last summer. According to Obama sources, those public utterances do not reveal the extent of her hostility.
Support is growing in Democratic ranks for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland as vice president. He would bring to the ticket maturity (66 years old), experience (six terms in Congress) and moderation (rated “A” by the National Rifle Association). He is very popular in Ohio, a state Republicans must carry to elect a president.

Why would Obama choose someone who has spent months attacking his patriotism, calling him a terrorist and trying to destroy everything about him.
I would hope he chooses someone younger than Strickland, but it doesn’t matter as long as it isn’t Hillary.

I think Gen. Anthony Zinni might be work.
Zinni has military experience which could be useful in extracting the U.S. from Iraq, and he’s a liberal Democrat — rare for a General.
Plus, Zinni has said he’s interested in running for political office after his military career ends.

Is that Pig Latin? Too funny! I don’t think I’ve seen Pig Latin since college. I don’t think Obama would ask the Borg Queen to be on the same ticket. There is too much bad blood between them now. Hillary has burned yet another bridge.

If Obama asked Hillary to be his veep, I don’t think I could vote for him. I think many people feel as I do when it comes to Hillary and I think Obama is well aware of this. He can do much, much better when he makes his pick.

He should pick Gen. Wesley Clark. Anthony Zinni would make a great SecDef, though. Either one would bring experience and battle tested skill to the White House, something that’s been sorely lacking for the past seven years.

Wesley Clark is a staunch Hillary supporter so if he is to pick a general I doubt it would be him.

Brigadoon,
OK, you win.
My pig latin skills can’t hold a candle to yours!

Michelle is protecting her man.
She’s NOT going to let him choose the Borg Queen after the Clintons played the race card so shamelessly in this campaign.

I have read a number of article recently supposing Obama should ask Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland to be his veep. I don’t know Strickland so I don’t have an opinion, yea or nay. I have to think at this late date, Obama must have his shortlist assembled? I just don’t think Hillary’s name is anywhere on it.

The only pig latin I know is the chorus to “How High the Moon”
Omewheresay ere’sthay usicmay
Owhay earnay, owhay arfay
Omewheresay ere’sthay eavenhay
It’sway erewhay ouyay areway
Ethay arkestday ightnay ouldway ineshay
Ifway ouyay ouldway omecay otay emay oonsay
Untilway ouyay illway, owhay illstay ymay earthay
Owhay ighhay ethay oonmay
I learned it in high school and used to sing it around the house to piss off my parents.

I don’t speak much pig latin, so the only part I could translate was Christopher’s great title.
Michelle is very wise, and I’m relieved to hear that she is so adamanatly opposed to putting Hillary on the ticket. She understands that Hillary would attempt to undermine everything Obama is trying to do.
I would like to see more of Zinni. On paper, he sounds like a good potential running-mate.
Wes Clark burned any bridges he might have been able to build to the Obama camp when he stood up with Hillary and questioned Obama’s fitness to be C-in-C. As a former Wes Clark supporter myself, I was extremely disheartened to hear him use his gravitas to attack the one candidate who opposed the war from the beginning, as General Clark said he did.
General Clark, who first started stopIranwar.com, also failed to step forward when Hillary made her “obliterate Iran” comment, and he has continued to strongly support her since. I have been very disappointed in him. I don’t believe he could possibly provide the support that Obama is going to need to go up against the GOP slime machine.
And Strickland is the one who stood behind Hillary in Ohio when she made her “shame on you, Barack Obama” diatribe. He shook his head in agreement and looked like a whipped puppy.
There aren’t too many Hillary supporters out there who haven’t made fools of themselves agreeing with her tirades. Some suggest that Ed Rendell has been the least offensive, although he made racially insensitive remarks, as well.
I hope Obama picks someone who is loyal to him and his philosophy, and that he doesn’t feel the need to kowtow to Hillary’s people.
To use his favorite sport for an analogy, the ball’s in HIS court now.

Pig Latin is one of the great, lost languages.
I can only speak it properly when I’m shitfaced on cheap beer.

Kick Hillary out of the party! We need a no Clintonian ticket. How about picking a VP based on good merit and character?

The Democrats are blessed with a bounty of smart, accomplished and decent men and women who are ready to serve President Obama and the American people.
There is no compelling reason to reach back to the Clinton era and reward them with what would essentially amount to a third Bill Clinton term.
Plus, after what we’ve seen during the primary race, Hillary can never thought to be smart, accomplished or decent. The curtain was pulled back to reveal a common gutter snipe.

Remember what they said in the Godfather, “its the smart move”, picking Strickland would be the smart move, but he don’t deserve it.Kind of OT but at anti-Obama blog No Quarter, they seem to be planning some sort of disturbance in Denver during the Convention. Isn’t that illegal ?

Kid,
Thanks for the information.
The promise of what amounts to a violent insurrection in Denver is dangerous rhetoric and can’t be ignored.
A link to No Quarter has been forwarded along to the proper authorities. Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry to bother you again. I just printed a photo of the flyer they had at the site, maybe you should go over there and see if it’s still up.The poster says “street tactics”. This shit is too crazy.

Kid,
Most people who follow politics knows exactly what happened in Chicago in 68 and calls to “recreate 68″ can only mean one thing: violent protests by angry Hillbots who didn’t get their way.
It worries me that groups like this could pose a security problem for Obama.
+ at 8:58 pm
The threat of “recreating 68″ worries me too. I know the people orbiting Hillary are full of rage but threatening to recreate one of the darkest events in the 20th politics to disrupt the nomination process can’t be taken with a grain of salt. What kind of blog is No Quarter?

NPR has a report a few months ago that said the governor of Colorado had the state national guard ready to protect Denver, as well as the delegates and even the candidates. I think they already know how crazy these people can be. Personally, I hope things don’t dissolve into another Chicago. I was in grade school in 1968 and I remember watching it unfold on the TV with my parents. Hillary’s supporters rioting in the streets isn’t the face of the Democratic party I want the world to see.
+ at 9:14 pm
Mary Beth – I was born in 1977 so I don’t recall the Chicago Convention of 1968 but my dad said it was that event that made him leave the Democratic party and become a registered Republican. He never forgave the Dems for the riots in Chicago.
+ at 9:20 pm
I didn’t plan to go anywhere near the convention center anyway. The traffic is bad on a good day and I don’t like being stuck in traffic.
My guess is, the Federal law enforcement agencies aren’t going to let this group board a flight from wherever they’re located to Denver. The convention is just too important.

I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t going overboard with it. I swear it doesn’t make sense. Thanks for contacting the right people .

This is how the Clintons play politics…….
If they can’t win fairly — they try to change the rules…..
If this fails — they try to destroy the reputation of their opponent…..
If this doesn’t work — they’ll blow up the Democratic party from within through their operative.
And we thought the Bush dynasty was bad news?

I sorry I’m back . What No Quarter did was doctored a Dead Prez poster, a rap group. It was for a fundraiser. I tried to take a picture of the original but the site wouldn’t let me.You can see the original at No Quarter. Click on the hyperlink of the word re-create ‘68.
