A new Pew Research poll reports that the Jeremiah Wright fracas hasn’t hurt Obama among Democrats. However, he’s still having trouble with the Archie Bunker Dems, older, white, working-class members of his party:
White Democrats who hold unfavorable views of Obama are much more likely than those who have favorable opinions of him to express less tolerant views on race. In addition, nearly a quarter of Democrats (23 percent) who hold a negative view of Obama believe he is a Muslim.
I suppose it’s no surprise these are Hillary Clinton’s peeps and her campaign has left no stone unturned when it comes to playing the race card and exploiting their doubts about Obama’s religion.
Remember Clinton’s appearance on 60 Minutes, when she asked if she thought Obama is a Muslim? She replied, “Of he’s not. As far as I know.”

People are so fucking stupid. I give up. These are the same morons who think Saddam Hussein was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. They don’t think for themselves, preferring to have their news fed to them by the likes of Dick Cheney and Brian Williams.

Brigadoon, very true. There are many things you can fight, but ignorance is not one of them. Stupidity usually wins out.
I used to really like Brian Williams. I actually had respect for him. I never felt a partisan tug from him until lately.

Why is that? Nearly everyone has a TV. I know there are a lot of STUPID voters walking around in this great country… but SURELY they watch TV and have been exposed to facts.
10%? That’s a lot of people! Are right-wing pundits pushing Obama as Muslim? If so, isn’t that a lawsuit begging to develop?

Greetings all, I’d sure like to know how Obama can be “someone who goes to a racist church”, as in a Christian, and a Muslim at the same time? Could someone explain how you pull that one off?

Obama isn’t Muslim. He’s a Christian. But be that as it may, if Obama were Muslim, why is that such a bad thing?

I have to wonder if all of Hillary’s interviews with Fox News and ultra-conservative newspapers has led to this “dumbing down” of some Democrats. You’d be surprised how many hardcore Hillary supporters are now watching and praising Fox News because they are trying to keep Hillary’s chances alive. And while they are tuned to Fox News they are getting inundated with all of the lies about Obama.
All the dirt roads lead straight back to Hillary.

The Klanservatives have successfully played to the “Archie Bunker” voters before, starting with Reagan in Philadelphia, MS at the start of his 1980 Presidential campaign. Then, of course, Bush I had his wonderful “Willie Horton” ad, and of course we know that the 2004 “gay marriage” initiatives were actually plays on something nobody spoke of, but everyone understood.
The Klanservatives have been given a big boost by the Clinton campaign, and I’m sure the Republiklans will make the most of it in the general election run.

My mother and father-in-law are Archie Bunker Democrats. They’re not bad people: they would give you the shirt off their back and when I married their son, we were so broke, struggling to begin our careers and pay-off student debt, and they gave us money and food, and always with a smile and generosity. I just wish they would use their brains and think things through, not buying into Hillary’s rhetoric about the scary state of the world.

Greetings all, to answer the above question of “what’s wrong if he was a Muslim”, well, in a perfect world, nothing. However, many Americans still are very ignorant of Islam and Muslims, and assuming that Obama was a Muslim, this would severely hurt his electability, unfortunately. Perhaps if Americans were able to discern that no all Muslims are terrorists, were able to have more information about the basics of Islam, then perhaps there would be nothing wrong iwth Obama being a Muslim, but right now, unfortunately, there’s a lot wrong with it. At least to many Americans.
