BREAKING
As if you needed another reason to detest Speaker Botox.
Before the Nevada Democratic primary, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) was visited by Nancy Pelosi’s goon squad and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), who told Kucinich if he would drop his campaign to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney and President George W. Bush, they would guarantee to support his re-election to the House of Representatives.
As a principled man, he kicked them out.
Kucinich now faces several well-financed primary challengers for his seat in Congress.

My great hope is the voters of San Francisco toss Pelosi out on her ass this November and replace her with Cindy Sheehan.
After electing Obama president, defeating Pelosi is the next order of business for people on the left to make happen.
This story about her peeps and AIPAC ambushing Dennis Kucinich is simply outrageous.

This is the most appalling thing I’ve read in a long time. Pelosi needs to be brought up on ethics charges by the House.
+ at 2:18 pm
What I’m hearing is, as soon as this story became public, Pelosi backed off her strong arm tactics and told Kucinich to issue a statement that the story is incorrect.
Kucinich, who desperately wants to remain in the Congress, agreed to do as he was told.

He should send his young beautiful wife back to Pelosi and her ass kissers with the message he’d comply when she kicks her botox habit, which would be NEVER.

Nancy Pelosi is a super delegate and a Clintonite. She’s one of the worst Speakers we’ve ever had and her endless commitment to enabling George Bush is nauseating and makes her unworthy of reelection. I agree with Woodcliffe: let’s hope the good people of San Francisco are paying attention to these stories.

Chris – I don’t know how you manage to find this stuff but thank you for keeping us informed.
As everyone should remember, I was an enthusiastic supporter of Speaker Pelosi. But it soon became clear that she had struck a deal with the devil and that meant she would never disband the appropriations committees charged with funding the Iraq war and she would never order the Articles of Impeachment.
The reward was the Bush administration would remain mum on her war profiteering. Like Dianne Feinstein, Nancy and Paul Pelosi would be safe.

The scenario fits with everyone I have learned about Rep. Nancy Pelosi and her criminal refusal to carry out the duties of her office and impeach both Bush and Cheney for High Crimes and Misdemeanors.
Ginning up the reasons to go to war, resulting in the deaths of nearly 4,000 Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, is certainly just cause to to at very least, hold hearings into impeachment.

FYI, this story has been debunked by Kucinich himself, who says the incident never happened. Will you correct?
+ at 4:50 pm
Wow! I saw this on KOS and reaction of party loyalists, AKA, the Polosi-ites was rabid. If I were you, unless there’s a statement from Kucinich posted on his website denying it, don’t take it down.
The Dumbo establishment doesn’t like to be rocked.
+ at 4:54 pm
Christopher – I agree with wayoyo. Don’t back off from it until and unless there’s something posted on Kucinich’s site.
BTW, I just checked it (link below) and there is no mention the story is untrue.

Not only that but the New Jersey impeachment group who broke the story hasn’t posted a retraction to the story.
There’s definitely a sub-group within the Democrats that are still invested in protecting Nancy Pelosi and you find them orbiting KOS.

Link? Can you provide one?

I think everyone is missing the point.
If the story just mentioned Rep. Nancy Pelosi, no one would have their tits in a sling. But the story mentioned Rep. Nancy Pelosi and AIPAC. This is a no-no, a taboo for many people on the left. It’s OK to criticize Pelosi (and Reid too) but AIPAC is off limits.
+ at 5:06 pm
Fuck Nancy Pelosi and Fuck AIPAC. Neither one gets a pass. You can credit Pelosi with failing to cut the funding for the Iraq war and credit AIPAC for Michael Mukasey. Why do you think Sens. Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein were was pushing to become AG? He’s AIPAC- approved.

He in my opinion would do very well to run outside of the two parties either green or socialist like Bernie Sanders..seriously we gotta think about entire system reform even if that means a constitutional tweekin..because third parties have no avenues under the current ONE business party. I am future oriented and by the way my foray to the post was a happy thing..People are exstatic over obama..and all the people i talk on the phone..doing busines stuff, u know like phone service etc , who have been people of color are exstatic..and i being me..have to say “an excuse me but clinton was NOT america’s first black president” oooh yeah ! – and those who missed the primaries DUE TO WORK ETC, are keen on voting in the General, and apparently more than one or two parents are talking to their kids..IE ..YOU WILL VOTE…you gotta love it !

Hey guys, I founds this on Counterpunch.
They too, are reporting the story as factual and historically, they have a stellar investigative record on matters.
Check it out.

Why is it so difficult for people to think AIPAC could threaten an elected official with a well-funded rival if he or she didn’t tow the pro-Zionist line? It’s entirely believable. Remember, the first oil pipeline turned on after Saddam was toppled by the Americans was an oil pipeline running from Tikrit, Iraq to Haifa, Israel. Nuff said.

just feeling the LOVE TODAY BIG TIME. and yeah its gonna get ugly, and its far from a done deal..but i am thinking positively and yes once in office Change will be hard won..due to entrenched forces..Obama will likely have a heck of a time during HIS historic presidency…visualize it people…HIS HISTORIC presidency…

Pelosi is powerful. She was able to silence Rep. John Conyers — the great impeachment hope of the progressive left, with threats she would yank his committee positions if he didn’t back down. But Kucinich isn’t a toadie — he can’t be intimidated and he won’t back down. He isn’t afraid to buck the party orthodoxy. In this way, he’s a threat to Nancy Pelosi.
+ at 5:32 pm
I agree, Proud Progressive! Matteo rocks. His links contribute so much to this blog.

The Pelosi/Reid-controlled Congress enjoys a 22% job approval number. The American public loathes the Democratic leadership for failing to deliver on what we elected them to do: end the Iraq war. That said, why is it so improbable to think Pelosi sent a team to see Dennis Kucinich and tell him to drop his impeachment plans? The last thing Pelosi wants in an election year is the upheaval impeachment would bring.
+ at 7:14 pm
Outrageous. I can never forgive her for playing politician while people are dead and dying. A direct result of her INaction.

I am not a supporter of denis(i think he’s an idiot), but whatever happened to supporting someones right to express their own view.
#1. I live in Ohio, i say Pelosi get the hell out of my state, we dont want any of your crap, we can decide for our selves.
2. Run your own dam state, wherever the hell that is we dont want you here.
3. Maby Denis is wrong about impeachment, maby he’s the only one with the balls to say what he thinks is wright, i dont care he represents my state not yours.
4. Ohio sure aint no california quit trying to change it into your PC version of the world we dont want it….
5. Your the rusty old washingtion bycicle who no one wants around, and you know everyone thinks it was a big mistake to elect you, everyone thinks you got a big mouth and need to shut it.

You know, I’m very close to leaving the Democratic party and becoming an independent. This story about Pelosi just nudged me that much closer to saying “adios” to the Dems. If the Super Delegates decide to rob Obama of the nomination and hand it to the Borg Queen against the votes of the people, then I will realize there is no place for me in the party of Pelosi and Billary.

[...] Dan (Fitness) Speaker Pelosi is doing great harm to this country and to the Democratic party. (From the Left): As if you needed another reason to detest Speaker [...]

I’ve been an Independent since 1972. I’ve most generally sided with Dems, but I basically believe in voting for the person you believe will do the best job, no matter what party they belong to. They don’t care about you.
With all the corruption that’s going on in DC, that capitol building needs a proper shakedown – but I’ve learned over the years that it must be done from the inside.
Obama is our greatest hope for carrying this out. When people say he’s “inexperienced” I often laugh and wonder if they really mean that he doesn’t ‘work for a few Big Corporations’ on the side… We are so very lucky to have someone like him in this position right now.
But beware… they won’t be knocked out of power very easily. There’s a mega battle ahead. This is a battle between the classes – make no mistake about it. There are Dems & Repubs linked together in this – at the top. We’ve got to come from the bottom up…
Peace,

Besides Kucinich saying it didn’t happen, I feel uncomfortable with the AIPAC part – it feels like one of those “jews secretly ruling the world” conspiracy memes.
I have no trouble believing Pelosi plays hardball within the party, though. None. She just won’t do it with the GOP. She’s such a tool.

Tengrain

I am not surprised to see this in the least. Pelosi isn’t offering her support on impeachment to Dennis Kucinich, John Conyers or Robert Wexler. She has sided with Bush and Cheney against members of her own House. Regarding AIPAC, wake up folks. I’m a retired, 62 year old jewish woman and I know how powerful AIPAC is inside Washington DC.

The influence of AIPAC on American politics is real and anyone who thinks otherwise is either terribly uninformed or just naive.
Salon.com, not exactly a conspiracy rag, published an exhaustive and informative piece on AIPAC and the sway it holds on U.S. politics, foreign policy and most importantly, elected officials.
Here’s the link to the Salon article.

I thought this passage was telling:
Even if Democrats and Republicans bicker on every other issue, AIPAC leaders seemed constantly eager to stress that one thing on which the parties can come together is unswerving devotion to Israel. Tuesday morning, just before the AIPAC activists got ready to descend on Capitol Hill with their talking points in hand, for example, Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Republican Minority Leader John Boehner each addressed the delegates, assuring them of a staunch commitment to Israel’s security. At one point, when Pelosi took the opportunity to criticize the Bush administration’s surge plan, she was booed by some of the assembled delegates. Boehner, meanwhile, got a standing ovation, after saying, “Who does not believe that failure in Iraq is not a direct threat to the state of Israel? The consequences of failure in Iraq are so ominous for the United States you can’t even begin to think about it.”
