Culinary 226 represents more members than any other union in Nevada.

Culinary 226 members work at casinos along the Las Vegas Strip as well as in downtown Las Vegas and at food service outlets at McCarran International Airport and Valley Hospital, industrial laundries throughout the Las Vegas valley, as well as casinos in Reno.

I wonder how Hillary Clinton can keep up the charade of being the Democratic front runner if she can’t count on the usual voter demograhics like unions to back her campaign? Will she badmouth the union members the same way she badmouthed Iowa voters?

  2. Larry says:

This is good for Obama as he had trouble garnering union support in the early stages of the process.

  3. DMason says:

I didn’t know unions were such a large presence in Las Vegas. This is good news for Obama and bad news for Hillary. Especially, since the Nevada primaries are just around the corner.

  4. This is great news. I have worked on a number of campaigns, not a presidential though, and none has been successful without union support.

  5. Harry says:

The old Vegas of martinis and Sinatra wasn’t a union hotbed but the new Vegas, of huge casinos and B’way shows is heavily union. Great news indeed.

  6. Matt says:

What is your source for this? no one else is reporting this yet…

  7. joost says:

    Great scoop, Christopher.

I think Michael is correct when he wrote that no Democrat has won the WH without the support of the unions.

If the Culinary Union is saying “Hello” to Barack and “See ya'” to Hillary, it’s pretty much a done deal at this early point.

  8. Rachel says:

All I can say is, Wow!!

  9. Woodcliffe says:

Another great scoop and a very exciting bit of political news.

Once again, the blogs are at least 24 hours ahead of the mainstream media on most issues.

this is great wonderful news……and thanks for the scoop- I just heard it on MSNBC a little while ago…and thought hey I already heard 😉

    Keep it up…

how dare the culinary union endorse a candidate who stands for the UPPER RICH DEMOCRATS and not for the REAL working class people like Hilary Clinton does. SHAME SHAME ON YOU.. After all the times CLINTON has come and spoke to the union where was Obama- You people are weak and have no right pushing your vote on anyone and DONT ever come to my door again

  12. marl says:

By the wayu I have been a union member for over 15 years and am pulling my political contributions

Most people are not aware of the significance of knowing and dealing with such an organization, and the downfalls its associated workers experience, until they see http://www.culinaryworkers226.com, and then they realize that they are truly mistreated. Please help us recover from such mistreatment.
