Barack Obama: Pot, Meet Kettle

In the latest issue of NEWSWEEK, presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama says the Democratic front runner, Sen. Hillary Clinton, is “disingenuous.”

NEWSWEEK: Is she entitled to any credit for her years as First Lady as she argues her case to be president?

OBAMA: On those areas where there is a record of her having done work, she certainly deserves credit for it. What she can’t do is have it both ways. She can’t embrace every success of Bill Clinton’s presidency and distance herself from every failure of Bill Clinton’s presidency.

Strange that Obama would mention “having it both ways.”

Last Sunday, Sen. Obama held a campaign concert event in Columbia, SC called “Embrace the Change.” It was hosted by a vehemently homophobic, bigoted gospel singer named Donnie McClurkin personally hired by Obama. While the Illinois senator emphatically disavowed McClurkin’s antigay views, Obama refused to cut his ties with the singer.

Pot, meet kettle?

  • Obama is like a reed in the wind. Just not enough leadership experience yet. Clearly he is out of touch even with his own “message” given the fiasco with McClurkin. Hopefully folks will really vote the issues in the primaries. Try to find the differences and not just vote for gender or color. Hell i wouldn’t vote for David Drier no way no how, or Mary Cheney for that matter. Or anybody based solely on such a superfiscial demographic. as race , gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation. (all being inborn traits)

This election is about the future of the law our Constitution, our struggling missing class, the working poor, and america’s moral stance on the globe , and international law, and being willing to help save the planet and get off fossil fuels, once and for all.

One can only peddle hope for so long…a candidates’ gotta have some substance some inkling or reason (found within their platform) to cause that hope.
Its about platforms, issues, postitions, depth.

That was really dissapointing what Obama did – how he could not see ,or choose not to see the conflicted message he sent out – is a pretty serious blunder…thus triangulating the deal with the faithful he wants to pander to, and the lgbt community

He looks like he does not know if he is coming or going. Guess the big corps will tell him what to do. And Advisors that are tad confused as well – He too scares me because he could be inadvertantly led into warring. The warring , striking option of Iran has got to be off the table.

  • Chirstopher:
Great comparison on the two hypocrites.

While I think Obama is correct on Hillary touting experience then withholding records. I find Obama’s behavior worse. He seems to be very comfortable in the role of vote pandering. Not only has he done it with the recent McClurkin event but he has done it with the religious crown. Obama has stated that he does not exploit his religious beliefs however, he told the religious crowd exactly what they wanted to hear to get their vote. He is no different then Hillary.

Obama was on SNL last night acting like South Carolina never happened and potential voters were supposed to forget about it. I won’t forget it and I won’t support him now.

  • Pandering is a standard tool in any politician’s kit. Obama’s clearly hoping people have a short memory and he would be right.

But he knows his time isn’t now, but Shillary’s.

And people forget that Hillary is a daughter of a life long Republican businessman and politician.

She knows how to play the red-staters.

  • You know, I really really really wanted to like Obama. I did.

It did not take long for me to feel nothing short of revulsion for him.

He has bellied up to those churches- you don’t really know me so well yet- I am actually a regular church goer myself. Albeit a very progressive and liberal church goer. Add to that a church goer who wants to keep any church and the government as f a r a p a r t from one another as possible.

So when I see politicians of any ilk doing this I start getting angry.

He did that and then furthered it with that McClurkin nonsense. What an ass.

Sadly it appears that for Obama, whatever clear vision of himself that he ever had of himself has now been lost to pandering, polls and handlers.

Between him and Hillary I just want to puke. Often.

  • Is there anybody left, those two suck.
