Zbigniew Brzezinski, one of the most influential foreign-policy experts in the Democratic Party, threw his support behind Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy, saying the Illinois senator has a better global grasp than his chief rival, Hillary Clinton. Obama “recognizes that the challenge is a new face, a new sense of direction, a new definition of America’s role in the world,” Brzezinski said in an interview on Bloomberg Television’s Political Capital with Al Hunt.
“Obama is clearly more effective and has the upper hand,” Brzezinski, who was President Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser, said. “He has a sense of what is historically relevant, and what is needed from the United States in relationship to the world.”
Brzezinski, 79, dismissed the notion that Clinton, 59, a New York senator and the wife of former President Bill Clinton, is more seasoned than Obama, 46. “Being a former first lady doesn’t prepare you to be president. President Truman didn’t have much experience before he came to office. Neither did John Kennedy,” Brzezinski said.
Clinton’s foreign-policy approach is “very conventional,” Brzezinski said. “I don’t think the country needs to go back to what we had eight years ago.”
It’s good to see there are a few Washington heavyweights left who haven’t drank the koolaid.

It seems Brzezinski isn’t victim to Hillary’s ‘star quality.’ He recognizes the fact we live in a complex world and we need leaders capable of thinking in 21st century terms. Obama is all about the 21st century. Hillary is so, well, so 1992.
David- “So 1992.” LOL! Bingo!
Glad to see someone with foreign policy cred admit that Hillary’s experience as First Lady isn’t enough to qualify her to be president and Obama brings something unique to the table.
Bout’ time too. All this Hillary worship has me sick in my stomach.
The thing about Brzezinski is he is one of the founders of the Tri-Lateral Commission and that is the design for the New World Order.
Larry is on the mark about Brzezinski, an avowed Globalist.
Is he vetting Obama for the NWO?
Good to know. I thinkat this point anyone works.
Gonzo is resigning today!! Now delete this comment and do a story on it:)
Wow, that’s as good as an endorsement. And from one of the premiere foreign policy experts of our time!
I had the great pleasure of attending the Carter retrospective at the Univ. of Georgia back in January. Listening to Brzezinski and others compare and contrast our situation in the Middle East 30 years ago to today was very enlightening.
I would recommend ordering a copy of C-SPAN’s coverage of the 3 day conference to anyone who wasn’t able to attend or see this forum live. Particularly the sessions involving Brzezinski.
Hillary’s time as First Lady is no doubt, invaluable and unique but I think Brzezinski is correct. It doesn’t qualify her to be president.
Shane,
Consider it done!
