It looks like Vice President Cheney can go back to his secure, undisclosed location because he won’t be needed to cast any tie-breaking votes in the Senate.
Democratic Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota was hospitalized and underwent surgery late Wednesday, weeks before his party is to take control of the Senate by a one-vote margin.
Johnson, was admitted to George Washington University Hospital with an undiagnosed illness, said a spokeswoman, Julianne Fisher. However, she said the senator did not suffer a stroke or heart attack.

The rumor about Johnson’s health and Cheney preparing to cast a tie-breaking vote was hatched by Gloria Borger of CBS News.
Apparently, Ms. Borger is uncomfortable with a Democratically-controlled Congress and is all too happy to try and undermind our gains.
Sen. Johnson can vote from home if necessary. We are still in control of both houses of the Congress.
I’m so glad to read this about Sen. Johnson. The thought of the Bush administration masturbating at the chance to squash the Democratic agenda thanks to Cheney casting a tie breaking vote just makes me feel physically sick. Of course, just about everything and everyone associated with the Bush administration causes me to have that reaction.
Get well soon Sen. Johnson! We need you at work next month.

The freepers are so afraid of losing their powerhold on the government. Mrs. Johnson had best keep an eye on who has access to her husband’s hospital room or a non-hospital figure may appear with poison and spike his juice or water.
Get well soon, Sen. Johnson and know we’re all pulling for you in the reality-based community.
CBS’ Gloria Borger is a rightwing bitch. This isnt’ the first time she’s revealed her political leanings for the world to see.
Harry, You got that right. The GOP isn’t going down without a fight. Even if that means they pull a Paul Wellstone on oneof our own. These are dirty, dangerous men and they will stop at nothing to hold onto power.
I heard on Sirius that Sen. Johnson is stable and his doctors are encouraged by his progress to recovery. Wishing him well and all the best.
feminazi is spot on. It reeks of the Paul Wellstone death just before the election.
Johnson is reportedly recovering and recovering well. In fact, at the rate his doctor’s say he is doing, he should easily be able to join his Democratic colleagues in the 100th Congress in January.
Poor Vice President Cheney: he was poised to elbow his fat-ass into the Capitoal and weild his tie-breaking vote, but alas, it look like he won’t be needed after all.
Back to babysitting the president and counting your ill-gotten millions, you dirt bag.
