Democrats Maintain Wide Lead Over Republicans

The news just gets worse and worse for the GOP.  Thanks in large part to the Iraq war, record high oil prices and Nixonian job approval numbers for George Bush.

According to Gallup:

Democrats lead Republicans 54% to 39% among registered voters

Gallup's latest midterm election update shows the Democratic party continuing to hold a strong lead over Republicans among registered voters, according to an April 28-30 USA Today/Gallup poll. For the first time since 1992, a majority of registered voters say that most members of Congress do not deserve re-election. While most registered voters think their own member of Congress deserves re-election, the percentage saying this is the lowest Gallup has measured since 1994. Democrats also report an unusually high level of enthusiasm about voting in a midterm election. Most Americans believe that the Democrats will win control of the House of Representatives after the elections this fall.

  • I keep hearing how the Republicans will hold onto the House, but loose the Senate come November. I don’t see how anaysts can make such a prediction with polling data like this? Maybe it’s just wishful think? They want to keep it a horse race? I will make a prediction here the Democrats will make huge gains in both the House and Senate in November and take back the majority.

  • Now if we can only find a viable Democrat to run for President.

  • So much is riding on the Midterm elections that I almost can’t think beyond them to the 08′ presidential race.

The promise of ordering the Articles of Impeachment when Democrats regain control of the US House is cause to get out of bed each day.

I’m troubled at this moment to think Hillary is considered the Democratic frontrunner in 2008 — we must and we can do better, else we might very well get stuck with 4 years of John McCain.

  • Is it enough to have a lead?

What about leadership? How many times have we seen Dems rollover and play dead before the feet of the Great Booosh?

    Let’s hope 2006 is different.
